ANKENY – Community leader, small businessman and state lawmaker Jack Whitver 
officially announced today his intentions to seek re-election in Iowa State Senate District 19.
officially announced today his intentions to seek re-election in Iowa State Senate District 19.Whitver, first elected to the Iowa Senate in 2011, filed his candidacy paperwork Wednesday morning with the Secretary of State. He represents Polk County, including the cities of Ankeny, Alleman and Des Moines.
“My priority in the Iowa Senate always has been and will continue to be improving our state for the next generation,” Senator Whitver said. “As I head into the end of my first term, I am confident we have made a lot of progress toward making Iowa a better place for our kids and for all Iowans.”
Whitver and his wife Rachel have two children and reside in Ankeny. He is a member of the Senate Republican leadership team, serving the caucus as whip. He sits on the economic growth, human resources, judiciary and rules and administration committees.
Whitver said his priorities are sound fiscal management, reforming Iowa’s tax code and job creation.

businesses want to move to our state,” Senator Whitver said. “While we have made tremendous progress, there is still a lot of work left to do.”
Senator Whitver said he looks forward to visiting with District 19 voters in the coming months and share his optimistic vision for Iowa’s future.
“I am asking for your vote and for you to join me with the goal of creating a better Iowa and a brighter future,” he said.
